Termites
There must be a
million articles written about termites, some fact,
some fiction. Nevertheless every homeowner should at
the least familiarize themselves with the habitats of
termites. Some of the best written, and most unbiased
information available comes from the University of
Florida in Gainesville. You will find links from this website and every search engine to the
universities web site, there you will find hundreds of
pages related to termites. Unfortunately we are forced by Mother
Nature to live with termites, but with the proper
knowledge and the proper treatments we don't have to
live with them in our homes. Homeowners should be aware of
the different types of treatment available and
which treatment is right for a particular home.
With a better understanding of how termites work and
live, and a better understanding of how and why a
treatment works a homeowner will be better prepared to
invest in the proper protection for there home.

Spiders
Spiders
can be very intimidating, studies show that nearly 45%
of people are afraid of spiders. However the
appearance of spiders can be scary most are in fact
harmless. Most spiders are actually beneficial,
destroying other nuisance insects. There are only a
few species that are dangerous, the Brown Recluse and
the Black Widow are the two most notorious for
dangerous bites. Both are easily recognized by
markings on the spiders body, the Black Widow shows a
colored hour glass shape on it’s underside, while
the Brown Recluse shows an upside down violin shape on
it’s backside. Both of these spiders are relatively
small, measuring no bigger than a quarter. Spider
control can sometimes seem impossible, treating with
general insecticide can be effective because the
target pest is the insect the spiders prey on. Killing
the spider’s food source will eliminate the spider
population.
